Quarantine

Quarantine Skincare Routine

Thanks to my lazy days of quarantine. My externalities have been suffering! I highly recommend that you don’t shower and just jump straight into your sweatpants and button-up blouse to prepare for your next Zoom meeting with red wine in a coffee cup. My arms, legs, and tummy haven’t got all of the T.L.C. that they desperately deserve.

Not to mention, my Quarantine 15. As a result of improperly moisturizing and my see-sawing weight, the skin on my body needed an emergency intervention from dryness and stretch marks that weren’t invited to make a guest appearance. I decide to apply the same regiment I use on my face to my body, and I got some fantastic results! The best thing about this regiment is that it is affordable, quick, and simple.

Step 1. Stop Playing Yourself!

Normalize good moisturization routines. You are worth 5 minutes of your time, especially when your skin is missing the mark. I love to use chemical and physical forms of exfoliation together to achieve smoother, cleaner, and more vibrant skin. They help speed up the cell turnover rate and decrease the time it takes for the skin to heal. It also prepares the skin to receive nutrients to attaining a radiant glow.

Step 2. Cleanse & Exfoliate

Smooth skin starts with eliminating dead cells. Physical exfoliation removes dead skin cells that traditional cleaners can’t remove. I usually use a D.I.Y. scrub or exfoliating gloves from Dollar Tree. They have worked well for me and got the job done. But then I heard and felt the presence of God say… “You Deserve!” When God speaks, you listen. I made a u-turn and headed over to my local drug store and spent the extra money to purchase the Earth Therapeutics Hydro Exfoliating Gloves, Natural

After using them, I understand why God was so direct with me. My life has been forever changed! These gloves polished my body and almost made me question my cleanliness.

Real Talk… I can’t lie… I was slick ashamed. Have you ever made sure everything was rinsed down the drain before you cut the shower off? Yep. That was me that day. S.H.M.

Using the Mario Badescu A.H.A. Botanical Body Soap, 16 Fl Oz as a chemical form of exfoliation along with the gloves softened my skin. The fruit enzymes slough the dead skin off, leaving skin waiting to be nourished. Chemical exfoliation informs those sassy and stubborn skin cells with an attitude to vacate the premises immediately. They tell your skin cells what’s ABOUT to happen if it likes it or not! Every claim made by the Mario Badescu… was, in fact, the truth. My skin was brighter, softer, and smoother.

This maybe T.M.I… but hey, we are here. My Brazilian Wax was the smoothest it has ever been. I am literally the same complexion from my head to my toes. I honestly didn’t expect to see such immediate results. In 2-3 weeks, I saw an 80% decrease in hyperpigmentation, and I had zero ingrown hairs. I was shook! This alone was enough for me always buy at least two of these items at a time.

Sis… I didn’t intend to make this post that long. But when you have a testimony, you have to let God use you and share all of the detail!

Step 3. Moisturize

Salicylic acid is often used to treat acne. But when used in small percentages, it’s a fantastic exfoliator. The CeraVe SA Cream is, hands down, the most cost-effective way to improve skin texture by exfoliating, softening, and smoothing dehydrated rough skin all at the same time! This cream contains salicylic acid and lactic acid for gentle exfoliation. The hydrating hyaluronic acid, calming niacinamide, and barrier-strengthening ceramides to help prevent further moisture loss.

I usually cringe when I hear the word cream. I hate feeling sticky, tacky, or slippery after moisturizing. Who wants oil spots on their silk pajamas? I love how fast it melted and absorbed directly into my skin. It was nourishing, moisturizing, and hands down one of the best items I could have added to my regiment.

Step 4. Lock it in.

Bio-Oil Skincare Oil, 6.7 Ounce, Body Oil for Scars and Stretch Marks, Hydrates Skin, Non-Greasy, Dermatologist Recommended, Non-Comedogenic, For All Skin Types, with Vitamin A, E

Bio-Oil is an old faithful staple that won’t fail you. This oil, combined with the steps above, will have your skin feeling soft, supple, and nourished. It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving you with nothing but desired results.

As much as I enjoyed the results of part of this body skincare regiment. There were a few cons. If you shower more than once a day, I would highly encourage purchasing two or three pairs of gloves. Since the gloves were thicker than my beloved Dollar Tree Gloves, it took longer to dry. Bacteria or fungi WILL grow if they aren’t properly dried in-between use.

As a result, I gave The Luv Scrub Mesh Body Exfoliator a try. I was impressed with how large but small it was. It was big enough to scrub my entire back and dry in record timing. Earth Therapeutics Hydro Exfoliating Gloves left my skin feeling polished. The Luv Scrub left my skin feeling cleansed and exfoliated. You can’t go wrong with having either one!
